They're Outside

Keep telling yourself that it’s just a story!

As far as found footage movies go, I think the ongoing Blackwell Ghost series proves that there is still a lot of gas in the sub-genre’s tank when it is done correctly.  That’s part of why They’re Outside works so well.  You take a real issue like agoraphobia and mix it with some astounding supernatural situations that lean more on the folk aspect of horror lore and play it low-key with a solid set of actors and slowly amp up the tension as things spiral out of control.  The end result is a slow burn of terror.

"The fun is in the unraveling as the supernatural becomes more and more difficult to be ignored"

They’re Outside is what happens when a celebrity psychologist (Tom Clayton-Wheatley, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), filming a documentary about an agoraphobic woman (Christine Randall, 9 Full Moons), starts to explore the supernatural elements surrounding the woman’s case history.  Something is amiss in the woods surrounding her home and it all begins with the mystery surrounding the local legend known as GREEN EYES!

Sarah Arnold (Randall) doesn’t go outside.  She’s an agoraphobic woman and, as indicated by the film’s prologue, They’re Outside is her movie.  Ignore the celebrity psychologist whose flamboyant personality is hard to ignore.  Max (Wheatley), along with his camera operator and girlfriend (Nicole Miners), believes that he can cure her of her psychological condition and get her outside of her home in 10 days.

The truth is that this woman is haunted by something very real, a local legend known as Green Eyes and this documentary has found a new subject.  From a curse on the town to a curse on Max, this boogeyman is all about the unexpected.  This is a movie which takes viewers on a journey that is as dark and as unexpected as they come.  The fun is in the unraveling as the supernatural becomes more and more difficult to be ignored. They're Outside

Even Max is spooked by the supernatural events that his mouth can’t explain away.

Featuring Hellraiser's Nicholas Vince and Grindhouse’s Emily Booth, They’re Outside - while beginning as a YouTube video about agoraphobia, shifts its focus and reveals that Green Eyes is more than just a legend.  He’s come for all those unfortunate enough to hear his knocking and it is off to his house where they go, never to be seen again!

Directed by Airell Anthony Hayles & Sam Casserly, They’re Outside is available October 29 worldwide on digital from Terror Films.  This Halloween… THEY’RE OUTSIDE!
