This is why you don’t bring cats anywhere. Fuckin’ cats, man. The hissing; the clawing; the weird mutant living inside of them. Uninvited, for those who can take your bad guys being George Kennedy, Alex Cord, and Clu Gulager, is a literal handbook in all the reasons why those fine felines ought to stay home and never once set foot aboard a boat of ANY size.
For many a young person, Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale can be a wild time. From the women to the booze, what’s a teenage boy to do with all his hormones when he sees the two piece bikinis floating in the water he wades through? Well, after a friendly-looking cat escapes an experimental lab, the poor boy should probably not be petting just any free-spirited pussy he can sees.
Blissfully B-movie minded, Uninvited hilariously loses all sense of itself early on. It's hard to take its lines of dialogue seriously. You shouldn't. Go with it and LAUGH. Because an experimental team of lab scientists have lost their special brand of Hello Kitty and they want the poor beast back in its cage. They are out on the prowl, looking for something that should not be loose: a blazing ball of yellow fur. {googleads}
The cat at the center of their work is gone and no one wants to be responsible for what damage it might inflict on the people who come in contact with it. You see, the poor cat is infected with some ravaging mutant creature inside it and, thanks to its new host, the four-legged fuzzball can transform from raging fur monster to normal cat with a flick of its tail.

So when Spring Breaker babes Shari Shattuck and Clare Carey are offered to hitch a ride on a gangster’s yacht (Cord), how can they turn it down? Along the way to the dock, though, they have a brief run-in with the cantankerous cat and now, because they have no idea of the hazard they are courting, they scoop it up and bring it on board with them. At sea, it turns out, no one can hear you scream.
And, of course, the cat attacks time and time again and, of course, it is damn hysterical. If you are tired of cats being thrown out of nowhere or simply dropped from the ceiling and landing at your feet in a horror movie, then this isn’t the hair-raising b-grade flick for you. The cat trope is pouncing throughout this feline flouncing film and it is in fine form, cracking us up every single time it tries to be “clever” in its shenanigans.
And, for the right audience, there is a hell of a lot of fun to be had with this movie. Goofy as shit, incredibly funny, and, with Gulager stealing the show time and time again, writer/director Greydon Clark ham-fists his way through yet another bad and memorable picture.

Vinegar Syndrome presents this newly scanned and restored 4K presentation of Uninvited on blu-ray with great results. The region free Blu-ray/DVD combo looks incredible. Black levels are consistent and so, too, are the colors. The new 1080p transfer is crisp with defined edges. Colors are vivid and fine details are noticeable. Skin tones are warm. Occasionally, the red tones overcompensate in some areas, but a sharp-looking release nonetheless. The faithful English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track is an incredible accompaniment to the feature.
