Demented twists await in Visher, a new thriller from writer/director Isaac Rodriguez (Last Radio Call, Town Full of Ghosts)! The found footage film, released from Silent Raven Films, is a remarkable effort of low budget cinema, offering audiences an inside look at a most hated occupation: that of an online scammer.
But who is worse? The scammer or the scammed?!!! This seems to be what Rodriguez posits to his audience as tables are turned and one scammer realizes, after witnessing a whole lot of strange stuff by hacking into her webcam, how easy it is to become the victim.
Obsession, you know, it’s a killer.
Starring Mandy Lee Rubio, Thomas Burke, and Rahul Chakraborty, Visher wastes no time in getting to its dirty deeds. The film is economical in its delivery and knots up its suspense with keyed-in moments which prove that Rodriguez is getting better at his profession. This film quickly becomes a white-knuckled journey through some pretty bizarre situations that, ultimately, feel real.
Uncomfortable, yes, but very real. This is partly where the film gets its strength from. Sure, it might go abruptly to the dark side as the scammer gets more and more involved in Ruth’s narrative but, honestly, it is to be expected. The surprise comes in just how it is handled and in how perverse the situation becomes.
While Visher is short, it does what it sets out to do: creeping out its audience with a situation which gets remarkably darker and more demented the further into the scam we go. Just go with where the film takes you and, with a twist some might see coming, be prepared to be a bit rattled as tables are turned and then turned again.
Out on streaming platforms now, Visher from Isaac Rodriguez (Last Radio Call, Town Full of Ghosts) is garnering praise from both fans and critics alike.
