</script></div>{/googleAds}The subject is the teenage sex comedy. The discussion takes place between my friends and I. We argue back and forth about how American Pie (the original) did wonders for the genre while, at the same time, sent it straight to hell with its cookie cutter template. It isn't the first time this discussion happens and everyone knows it won't be the last because Hollywood loves to flood the marketplace with these cheap-to-make releases. This flood makes it hard to keep up with - and to differentiate - between the crap and the gold which is what makes the recent release of Sexdrive so interesting; this movie is more Better Off Dead than it is American Pie 2 or 3 and, yes, that's a good thing.

Sex DriveThe story is a simple one: Ian, played by Josh Zuckerman (looking and acting remarkably like a young John Cusack) finds himself lost; he is a virgin and the girl he likes doesn't pay him any mind, but she loves his 14-year-old brother. The only girl he does talk to this is his practice at being a jerk is online. She wants him, but the picture she thinks is him has been doctored; it's his head on another man's muscle-ridden body. Ian uses all the jerk-like lines his friend, Lance played by Clark Duke has schooled him on and it is working. Of course, Ms. Tasty (the online girl) thinks Ian also drives a '69 GTO (nicknamed The Duke), but this is not the case as the car actually belongs to Ian's older â"d-bang" of a brother (a hysterical James Marsden). When she offers to â"go all the way" with Ian if he brings the GTO the boys decide that a road trip is necessary. Of course, they can't go alone; they have to bring Ian's best friend, Felicia, a charming and stunning Amanda Crew, along for the ride. And, thus, the adventure to get Ian the ultimate hook-up begins and hilarity follows honestly.

You've seen the previews, you know there is a running gag with a Mexican donut suit and with an Amish man, played by Seth Green, as well as other cameos, but I haven't seen cameos work this well in a comedy, well, in a long time. The only odd choice (to me) is the inclusion of Fall Out Boy as their time in the teenage spotlight seems to be coming to an end. Regardless, the movie scores on so many gut-busting levels as a comedy, but, ultimately, brings nothing new to the genre of the teenage sex comedy. Yes, there is gross-out humor, the teens swear like sailors, nudity and sex galore, and drinking, drinking, drinking but it is funny and it doesn't get old. It is.

But, here's the kicker: the blu-ray version comes with two versions of the film. The first is the theatrical release of the film and the second is the unrated disc (complete with a disclaimer from director Sean Anders and writer John Morris). Now, you should be warned about the unrated version it has been significantly â"doctored" to include as many naked women as possible. It is nearly unwatchable (for a movie), but totally hysterical and weird as a bonus feature. Another interesting thing done to the unrated version is that they have edited in the outtakes from favorite scenes (complete with the crew laughing in the background). My advice? Watch the theatrical version first. Trust me, there are enough clever lines and laugh out loud moments that watching the unrated version immediately after is still worth it and funny.
