Mary Had a Little Lamb

. . . and everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go!

You know how the nursery rhyme goes, except in director Jason Arber’s bloody version of this beloved rhyme, Mary’s lamb has gone completely bonkers and keeps killing people and bringing them to the dinner table so Mary will never be lonely again!

Opening with a rather sick and twisted dinner scene, Mary Had a Little Lamb goes straight for the jugular as one young girl tries to escape a murderous dinner party in which she’s the main course.  What’s chasing her you ask?  Well, it’s a giant, deranged, bi-pedal lamb!

And it’s hungry for more!  Chomp! Chomp! Chomp!

"pulls a one-two punch and proves to be more than a capable (and very campy) schlockfest"

Once you stop laughing at this scenario, Mary Had a Little Lamb pulls a one-two punch and proves to be more than a capable (and very campy) schlockfest as one podcaster, Carla (May Kelly) - hosting a cold case catalog with a dwindling audience - finds herself looking for something fresh, new, and exciting for her boss (and her listeners).  She and her team need to be proactive and that takes them deep into the woods where the demented Mary (Christine Ann Nyland) and her not-so-little killer lamb (Gaston Alexander) reside.

No one’s going to be leaving here for quite some time.  Mary Had a Little Lamb plays it straight and that keeps this slasher from crashing and burning as this frightening lamb, going on one hell of a rampage, looks quite disturbing and then, without even batting an eye, kills in the most violent of ways.

Turns out, this ain’t your mother’s version of this familiar nursery rhyme.

That’s right, a universally known children’s story turns into a slasher horror film in Arber’s hands.  It’s wild, too.  Full of shadows and laughs, Mary Had a Little Lamb turns the creep factor on high as Carla’s team chases leads into the dark and dense forest.  We’re talking in the middle of nowhere, for sure. Mary Had a Little Lamb

And it is here where they stumble upon Mary’s tea and hospitality.  But she’s not so eager for them to leave.  Let the bloodletting begin!

The appearance of Lamb is played for laughs, but his violent rage - and its brutal, too!!! - is no laughing matter, making this entry into the horror genre as an interesting one.  The violence is over the top, graphic, and full of blows to the body, head, and everywhere in between.

Both dark and disturbing, the slaughter is real with this one.  Mary Had A Little Lamb will be released on Digital and DVD October 3 from Uncork’d Entertainment.
