Smallfoot - Blu-ray

In the day and age of “alternative facts”, even cryptozoology must be confirmed!

The wintery world just got a whole lot merrier! Led by a funny script that is co-written by Clare Sera and Karey Kirkpatrick (the film’s director) and hot new music from Zendaya & Common, Smallfoot, makes its debut on the small screen from the Warner Animation Group in this Blu-ray/DVD combo that hits stores on Tuesday, December 11.

This 3D computer-animated comedy is a wild ride through the frozen parts of this world.  Both hysterical and heartwarming, it is sure to be followed by a sequel or two. The film, about unexpected discoveries and the changes to the societies both in and below the Himalayas as the unknown is proven to be known, is fun for both the kids and the adults.

"dares us to challenge ourselves and accept that alternative facts are the true enemies."

For the Yeti – represented here by Migo (Channing Tatum), Gwangi (LeBron James), Kolka (Gina Rodriguez), Fleem (Ely Henry), Dorgle (Danny Devito), The Stonekeeper (Common) and his daughter Meecha (Zendaya) – the earthshattering discovery revolves around proof that “the smallfoot” exists. Ehem: we are the smallfoot. Funny, no?

In a hilarious mountaintop scene, Migo stumbles upon a downed plane and its lone survivor, but the art of cementing the proof is far trickier than the actual spotting and so, once The Stonekeeper arrives to bring order back to the panicked civilization, Migo is shamed and silenced and banished to the cold to think about what he’s done. People? Existing? Certainly not in the Yeti world. {googleads}

But fate is a funny thing. Turns out, there is a group of Yeti who will encourage Migo to go out and bring back a human!

Alone and encouraged to go nowhere but DOWN the mountain, it doesn’t take Migo very long to make contact, yet again, with a smallfoot. This time is with adventurer Percy Patterson (James Corden), a wildlife television personality, and the two, once they understand the hand gestures (because understanding the difference in the language is just too hilarious to stop) each other is using, a new day for the two species is soon going to dawn.  Hopefully, right?

Smallfoot - Blu-ray

Featuring an all-star cast, Smallfoot turns all the tales of Bigfoot encounters on their ear and provides a role reversal that is all about making new friends and accepting differences.  We’ve seen tales like this one before; however, there is a special significance to its reversal and its treatment of truth.  Truth, unlike fiction, is not easily dismissible and, much to the chagrin of some of the most powerful people in history, it will win out in the end.  The writers, taking their ques from the book Yeti Tracks by Sergio Pablos, certainly take this to heart and, yes, there are obvious political ties that can be made by we the audience.

Smallfoot is a film that dares us to challenge ourselves and accept that alternative facts are the true enemies.  Humans!  Yetis!  Myths no more!  Smallfoot leaves its mark behind with this dynamic release from Warner Bros.
