Prometheus Trailer

Ladies and gents, Prometheus has landed. After what has seemed like an eternity of teases, prompts, probes, deflections, and redirects, the first full feature-length trailer for Ridley Scott's Alien inspired science fiction genre piece has finally hit the web with tons of new footage and a few more plot revelations sure to have the sci-fi buffs pulsing with nerdgasms. The trailer for Prometheus debuted this past weekend at Wondercon and is now quickly invading the web. You can check out it out below.

Though conceived as a prequel to his 1979 Alien that starred Sigourney Weaver, Prometheus' script, written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof features a separate storyline that precedes the events of that earlier film. While on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe, the Prometheus ship uncovers a series of mysterious clues (or invitations) from civilizations that are centuries divided, yet all contain an eerily similar pictogram. Further investigation turns up some really, really bad space mojo, the intensity of which can be felt in the trailer's closing seconds.

This is a great trailer that while not spoiling anything, gives just enough hints to keep us guessing. For instance, is that one of those face huggers in front of someone's face? And wasn't that a space jockey suit with a hole in the chest? If so, those could be the pieces of cinematic DNA that somehow link this film to Alien, despite Scott's denials and deflections. And it looks like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Noomi Rapace is going to be our Sigourney Weaver running around in her underwear this time.

This trailer just shot Prometheus towards the top of 2012's "must see" list. The year is beginning to look like a good one. Prometheus stars Noomia Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce and Michael Fassbender as is slated for a June 8th release of this year.
