Stake Land Movie TrailerThough this vampire thriller seems to carry some of the same tones (as well as a similar title) as 2009's Zombieland, we've been assured by those who've seen Stake Land that it's nothing similar. If fact, audiences have been ranting and raving about this gem since it premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival.

With a strong John Carpenter vibe and Terrance Malick-like production values, Stake Land is a gory little indie vampire horror directed by American filmmaker Jim Mickle and co-written by actor Nick Damici.

Stake Land stars Connor Paolo as a kid alone in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by vampires who eventually hooks with traveling vampire hunter named Mister (Damici) who takes the boy under his wing to get him safely north to New Eden. The film also stars Kelly McGillis, Danielle Harris, Michael Cerveris and Sean Nelson.

You can see it when it releases to limited theaters later this month on April 22.
