In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment.
The story is based on the beloved 1973 children's classic by John Bellairs with illustrations by Edward Gorey. The story was considered gothic horror at the time and for good reason. The movie version seems to carry that feel with its spooky atmosphere and fantastical visions.
The film is directed by horror maestro Eli Roth who will work with Amblin Entertainment and Universal. it is yet to be determined if Roth can pull it off with such mainstream constraints, but if the trailer tells us anything, The House With a Clock in Its Walls is destined to become a family-friendly horror classic to be watched over and over. Can it become the next Gremlins or The Nightmare Before Christmas?
