The Meg

So let's get this week's Most Wanted on Blu-ray and 4K UHD started off with some titles making their home video debut. The first out of the water is the John Turteltaub-directed and Jason Statham starred shark thriller The Meg which features a 4K UltraHD + Blu-ray + Digital HD release as well as a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital version. Sadly, the only features for both release will be a "Creating the Beast" and a "Chomp on This: The Making of the Meg" featurette. Later this month on the 27th, Warner will hit us in 3D with a region-free Blu-ray 3D + blu-ray + Digital HD version.

Another film making its home video debut this week is Mark Wahlberg's espionage action thriller film Mile 22 which comes to us in the form of a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital release accompanied by several featurettes, interviews, behind-the-scenes looks, and a trailer. This is a nice release with plenty of extras. Too bad the film itself wasn't given the same detailed attention.

The boy and his dog story Alpha marks its home video debut with a Blu-ray + Digital release that will feature the director's cut of the film in addition to the theatrical cut. An alternate opening, commentaries, deleted scenes and four featurettes will also be featured in the release from Sony Pictures.

Next up is the much-anticipated 4K upgrade from Lionsgate to three classic Sylvester Stallone action films. Yes, that's right, First Blood, Rambo: First Blood - Part II, and Rambo III are each getting 4K Ultra HD + blu-ray + Digital releases this week. The release is marked by several NEW featurettes plus tons of extra supplemental material that has been ported over from previous home video releases. {googleads}

Dennis Hopper's 1971 horse wrangler drama The Last Movie is also getting special attention this week and we want! The release features a new 4K scan from the 35mm originals camera negative by L'Immagine Ritrovata. Accompanying the film will be the theatrical trailer, missing scenes, several featurettes, interviews and a restoration demo that we are really looking forward to watching.

A couple of television series are getting the hi-def home video treatment this week. Claire Foy's British drama The Crown: Season Two is getting a blu-ray release as is Star Trek: Discovery - Season One which is also getting a pretty cool Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook release from Paramount. Can't say we are big fans of the retail exclusives, but if that's your thing, you can pick yourself up a copy on the 13th.

Next up is the Anniversary Edition of the 1981 BBC series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which gets a blu-ray upgrade this week. We are a bit leery about this one however as word has it that the feature has been cropped and upscaled. Perhaps a ton of extras and supplemental can make up for this oversight if indeed the cropping issues prove to be true.

Dances With Wolves

Next up is a release from Severin Films that has us going crazy here. And that is The Blood Island Collection which is a newly remastered release of the complete Blood Island Trilogy PLUS the acclaimed prequel. This release comes in a four-disc box and features uncut scans from recently discovered film elements in addition to numerous all-new Special Features. The release includes Terror is a Man, Brides of Blood, Mad Doctor of Blood, and Beast of Blood. But wait, there's more! Severin's special edition Blood Island Collection is also available in their Blood Island Collection-themed bundle called the Blood Oath Bundle that comes with tons of extra goodies, like a treasure map , enamel pin, coasters, a swizzle stick, and recipe cards.

And last but not least is our most wanted this week of November 13, 2018. Shout Factory is giving special attention to a twenty-eight year old classic by giving us a Limited Collector's Edition Steelbook release of Kevin Costner's seven-time Oscar winning epic western film Dances With Wolves. Sadly, the release will not include a 4K Ultra HD Edition, however, it will contain the extended director’s cut AND the original theatrical cut that is making its blu-ray debut. You read that right. It has been a quite long-standing disappointment to many fans of the film as they’ve never been able to watch the theatrical cut in hi-def blu-ray. Reason enough right there to own a copy. Shout Factory to the rescue!
