For obvious reasons, there are a lot of horror titles hitting blu-ray retailers this week that we’d like to see on our shelves including the Annabelle: 2-Film Collection, The Night Stalker (1972), Trick ‘r Treat FYE Exclusive SteelBook / Limited Edition, The First Purge, Blood Fest, and The Spiral Staircase, in addition to several 2 Film Collections which we’ll get into in a bit.
But our big must-have blu-ray/4K UHDs for this week are as follows: Stefano Sollima’s Sicario: Day of the Soldado which stars Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, and Catherine Keener; the feel-good story Three Identical Strangers; the fascinating Elvis Presley documentary called The King; and finally, Debra Granik’s Father-daughter relationship tale, Leave No Trace. {googleads}
Additionally a couple of war/military flicks are getting a home video release and blu-ray treatment this week in the form of Battle of the Bulge: Wunderland which tells the story of Germany’s final push against the allies in Europe during World War II from the German Perspective. The film is directed by Steven Luke and stars Tom Berenger and Steven Luke. WWII is again represented this week by the blu-ray release of Harald Zwart’s The 12th Man which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Thomas Gullestad and tells the true story of 12 allied saboteurs who infiltrated Germany during World War II.
Also, several notable titles that have already been released on blu-ray are getting a 4K release this week. Wonder Woman (re-release), Step Brothers, The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and 2007’s Halloween will all make their 4K debut this week.
