There aren't a lot of titles getting the 4K treatment this week, but those that are will definitely find their way to our list of the Most Wanted blu-rays for the week of October 16, 2018.
A couple horror titles initially stand out with Halloween II getting a spiffy Steelbook release from Scream Factory that features a brand new 4K master of the theatrical cut of the film. The two-disc release is also marked with the inclusion of both the theatrical and television cuts of the film along with audio commentaries and several bonus features.
The second horror title to grab our attention is Halloween III: Season of the Witch which is also getting a Steelbook release from Shout Factory. This release will also include a new 4K remaster of the theatrical cut of the film. The two-disc set will also include the original television cut with added footage not seen in the theatrical version. A couple of audio commentaries and numerous bonus features are also included.
Several biggies are next on our list with Ant-Man and the Wasp getting the 4K Ultra HD treatment with no fewer than six different editions of the film to hit retailers' shelves in the form of a Blu-ray + Digital Limited Superhero Sticker Sheet edition that includes a sheet of peel-off superhero stickers, a Target Exclusive 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital HD edition, a Cinematic Universe 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital HD Edition, a Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital HD Edition, and a Wal-Mart Exclusive Blu-ray Edition. How's that for total saturation? {googleads}
Another biggie this week is Kino Lorber's release of Trilogy of Terror from legendary director Dan Curtis who teams up with writers Richard Matheson, and William F. Nolan to present three tales of horrific suspense in this made-for-television anthology that also showcases the tremendous acting talent of Karen Black (House of 1,000 Corpses, Easy Rider), who plays four distinct roles. The blu-ray only release features a brand new 4K restoration of the film, a couple of new audio commentaries, and several featurettes and bonus features.
But here's the biggie that really blows our skirt up. The Big Lebowski 20th Anniversary Edition 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray, and the The Big Lebowski 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Gift Set / 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray that includes a collectible bowling bag, bowling ball pencil holder, ball polishing cloth, and sweater(!) that retails for $47.33. How cool is that?
We are also interested in the blu-ray releases of a couple of new films. The horror/hriller Unfriended: The Dark Web is getting its blu-ray debut, while the Whitney Houston documentary simply called Whitney is also coming to blu-ray for the first time this week.
Several catalog titles are getting new releases this week in the form of the classic To Kill a Mockingbird, 1985's John Hughes-Directed Weird Science, and Yes; Yessongs which covers the band's 1973 Close to the Edge concert tour are also on our radar this week.
