With the smells of rotted wood and autumn leaves hanging in the air, you know that it is time to celebrate serial killing season once more! Hell, we even have a Friday the 13th release for this horror flick. And what better way could there be to celebrate the “birth” of the bloodbath than with a sequel to Splatter Farm, a shot on video cult classic from 1987?
Cue the screams! Because the barnhouse beheadings are about to begin all over again.
Return to Splatter Farm, written by Jeff Kirkendall and directed by Mark Polonia, picks up 33 years later from the events of their first film and shows that, outside of all the changing seasons, nothing much is different in this rural Pennsylvania town. The disemboweled bodies are still piling up and, with a fresh batch of teenagers arriving, show no signs of stopping anytime soon.
Starring Danielle Donahue, Melissa Heflin, Marie DeLorenzo, James Kelly, Ken Van Sant, Tim Hatch, James Carolus, Niko Bryant, and Kirkendall himself, Return to Splatter Farm gets its main thrust from an unwanted inheritance as one young woman discovers that she now possesses the “Death Farm” which was made famous all those years ago. And, so begins a descent into Hell as her trip to check out the farm with her friends in tow turns into a living nightmare.
It’s as if the Slaughter House Road street sign couldn’t be anymore foreboding. Turn around idiots!
These fools are walking right into a trap. We know that, but they don’t and so the frightful fun begins. Fun and creative, this low budget slasher picks up from the events of the first film and never fails in delivering a damn good time. Sure, it's low budget and, yes, the acting at times is less than optimal, but this sequel makes for an unforgettable slasher through B-grade territory.
Solid in its set-up, this sequel to an obscure and offensive slasher from the 1980s is an unexpected delight for Horror Hounds and Gore-Gore Ghouls to chew on. The blood-soaked effects are practical and all sorts of gooey goodness and the story is satisfying.
The shocking sequel to the 1987 SOV cult classic Splatter Farm is now available on DVD and Digital from Wild Eye Releasing!
