Watch PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 Trailer. Can They do it Three Times in a Row?

Paranormal Activity 3 Movie TrailerThe big surprise with the Paranormal Activity franchise wasn't how well the the first film was received by audiences when it went on a gimmicky "request it for your city" tour back in 2007 launching it to a worldwide box office haul of nearly $200 million. After all, it's been proven again and again, make a scary movie and they will come.

No, what surprised most was how Paramount was able to successfully pull off the same basic trick twice in a row. The film's use of a found footage is certainly near the end of its cinematic shelf life as countless films have run the technique into the ground over the last several years, but somehow they managed to do basically the same thing and make a second film that was nearly as scary as the first. Without a doubt, the franchise has its naysayers as many detractors have filled forums and comment boards across the internet crowing about how unscared they were by the first film. Not us. Man, that shit was freaky!

Regardless, both fans and haters of the franchise will be expressing their opinions during the coming days and weeks as the first full-length trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 has just hit the web, and you can view it below. Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman, the two New York City filmmakers who brought us Catfish last year are in charge of the story this time that is presumably a sequel to the first two films.

There's not a lot of story to it, but what there is goes something like this: A couple are pursued by an evil spirit in their own home. In an attempt to unveil the mystery, they install cameras throughout the house to capture the strange paranormal activity occurring. Sound familiar? The question now becomes can they do it yet a third time. We doubt it, but you can watch the trailer below and see if they're on the right track.

Paramount is getting tircky again with the film's release. Apparently they will debut Paranormal Activity 3 exclusively in cities where the most fans "tweet to See it First." The film will debut on October 18 in the 20 cities with the highest number of tweets. We'll find out on October 14th which cities win the "tweet off."
