Revenge of the Boogeyman (2025)

What kind of secrets do old houses hide?

Revenge of the Boogeyman, presented by Breaking Glass Pictures, thinks it knows and, thanks to director Erik Skybak, presents these secrets with a wink and a nudge as the follow-up to Beware the Boogeyman, a horror anthology, arrives on digital and on-demand platforms!

It’s time for the face-stomping madness to begin . . . again!

That’s right, The Ridgefield Boogeyman is back—and he’s deadlier (and funnier) than ever!

"gives the audience genuine scares"

While much of Revenge of the Boogeyman could use a sharper edit, there is no denying the gore on display.  The practical effects are pretty solid and help to carry the film when the rest of the elements fail.

With one foot in the past, this ode to slasher flicks of yore arrives as a remote - wait for it - cabin in the woods becomes the playground for a deranged killer, whose over-the-top kills become practical effects masterpieces.  Or is that monster-pieces?

Either way, this independent slasher - which sees Calvin (Morie McCarthy) and his friends make some terribly stupid decisions -is pretty fun, thanks to its cast who know exactly what type of movie they are in.Revenge of the Boogeyman (2025)

There’s not a serious bone in Revenge of the Boogeyman as a group of friends on a weekend retreat to overcome addiction find themselves face-to-face with a real party killer: the Ridgefield Boogeyman.  Classic horror tropes are used and abused as different (and extreme) ways to get high are presented and the absurdity - stuffed into the traditional slasher formula - presents viewers with the ultimate toying of emotions.  Do we laugh or cry?!  The answer, of course, is to laugh away.

The film also stars Tim Coyle and Jax Kellington.

Shot on a limited budget, Revenge of the Boogeyman uses its location well.  It gives the audience genuine scares as the characters do completely stupid things - like leaving the cabin in search of mysterious sounds in the night - and then keeps it real with plenty of head-smashing practical effects.

While the humor doesn’t always land, Revenge of the Boogeyman manages to do enough with its use of foreshadow and its comedy to make it satisfy viewers hungry for some carnage.   If only its pace could be improved . . .

Breaking Glass Pictures is set to unleash Revenge of the Boogeyman on March 18, 2025. Discover for yourself if the legend is true.
