“What you lookin’ for?”
Graham White, a businessman with ties to an extreme fantasy website on the dark web, is in big trouble. After bumping into a random stranger in the street, he discovers a peepshow which offers patrons a tailor-made sexual experience, no matter how dark and twisted they get. Operated by an unnamed Madame, Midnight Peepshow might be just what he needed.
Or is it? I guess that all depends on how you like your consequence served. With solid cinematography, a cool production design, and narratives which bite, gnaw, and chew on the tender bits, Midnight Peepshow delivers a memorable tale for Valentine’s Day.
Opening with a 6-minute tag-a-long as we follow Graham into a bar and back out of it, straight into Midnight Peepshow, this anthology of horror - as it is three stories chock full of victims that he is audience to - is, at once, atmospheric with heavy shadows and solid neons. There’s nothing bright about this production, but that’s the point. This is an anthology of perversion which takes the sleazy way out.
And yet the stories are where true dread lies. There’s no hope here as each story gets darker and darker . . . and closer and closer to the man of the hour. Graham himself, as he gets lured in by the Madame herself, finds out the hard way that his connection to these disturbing tales lies on the dark side of his own desires.
With solid performances from all involved, Midnight Peepshow is a tightly wound anthology of horror, where the deepest desires, fears, and sins all come alive in tantalizing and very telling ways. And, of course, none of them are free of bloody and extreme consequences.
Directed by Airell Anthony Hayles, Andy Edwards, Jake West, and Ludovica Musumed, Midnight Peepshow puts it all out there with disturbing tales of darkness, deceit, and - of course - desire, but it doesn’t shy away from the disturbing scenarios, which is an added bonus if you like your low budget affairs to be all the more unsettling.
This lusty anthology from Dark Star Pictures stars Zach Galligan, Chaira D’Anna, Richard Collins, Sarah Diamond, Jamie Bacon, Derek Nelson, Jack Fairbank, Miki Davis, Ryan Oliva, and Ocean M. Harris. It is now streaming on VOD and On-Demand platforms.
