Roadside Attractions just dropped the first trailer for Judy, the forthcoming biopic about legendary Hollywood actress Judy Garland. You can watch the trailer and also check out the fabulous poster below.
As a teaser, the trailer has no dialogue but we hear Zellweger's (as the iconic Judy Garland) crooning rendition of the film's classic song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow that plays over the footage.
The first thing we notice is how unrecognizable the Bridget Jones actress is in her performance as Garland. She absolutely nails the mannerisms and facial expressions. Unfortunately, she also perfectly captures the heartbreak and despair from the later years that involved drug abuse and management issues. The trailer takes us back through Garland's early years where we see newcomer Darci Shaw as the youthful Garland.
The film is directed by True Story director Rupert Goold who works from a script by Tom Edge. Goold had this to say about the movie:
Judy is slated for a September 27, 2019 release. Until then you can check out the trailer below.
