The wait is finally over. We now have a trailer for the film that has been over 40 years in the making. Megalopolis, written, produced, and directed by the legendary Francis Ford Coppola won't hit theaters until later next month, but you can watch the trailer and check out the film's poster below.
Set in an imagined modern America, Megalopolis unfolds the conflict in New Rome. Adam Driver stars as Cesar Catilina, a visionary artist aiming for a utopian future, while Giancarlo Esposito's Mayor Franklyn Cicero clings to a regressive status quo. Entangled in this ideological clash is Nathalie Emmanuel's socialite Julia Cicero, whose heart and loyalties are torn.
With a stellar ensemble cast including Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, and Dustin Hoffman, Megalopolis has been kept on the back burner since Coppola wrote the script in the early '80s but was forced to abandon the project due to his financial debts. Pre-production eventually began in 2001 but was scrapped by the 9/11 attacks. In 2019, He began ramping up deleopment the film again, and we are finally getting a look at what has obsessed the filmmaker for all those years.
