Synopsis: The Robinson family, part of a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space, is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet.

First announced back in 2015, the reboot of the popular '60's sci-fi series Lost In Space received a launch date this week as well as a shiny new teaser trailer.

Netflix will reintroduce the Robinson family to a whole new generation of science fiction fans this spring; a generation more familiar with the original's most famous quote – "Danger Will Robinson" – than with any of the actual episodes from creator Irwin Allen's series which followed the Robinson Family who undertake a dangerous mission to seek out hospitable planets and set up a new colony to support Earth's growing population.

There's no word if Robby the Robot will make an appearance in the new series, but if the trailer's final moments hold true, we will once again be traveling across the Alpha Centauri system aboard the Jupiter 2 accompanied by the family robot whose comforting words can be heard as the trailer fades out.

The reboot will star Toby Stephens and Molly Parker as mission commander John Robinson and engineer Maureen Robinson. Parker Posey will don the space suit as Dr. Smith who, in the original was the ship's somewhat cagey doctor, while Max Jenkins will play the always in danger, Will Robinson. Rounding out the crew are the craft's pilot played by Ignacio Serricchio and daughters Judy and Penny, played by Taylor Russell and Mina Sundwall respectively.

Not much is revealed in this first trailer, but there's definitely enough there to make our science fiction pants go crazy. Check out the mysterious new trailer for Lost in Space below
