Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. But first, Columbia/Sony Pictures dropped the official full-length trailer for the filmmaker's ninth feature film. And boy, is it just downright all kinds of groovy! You can watch the trailer below.

"Quentin Tarantino’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age."

We've known about the basic plot of the film since the release of its teaser trailer several weeks back. The film takes place in 1969 Hollywood as washed-up actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his Hollywood stunt man Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) contemplate their paths forward in Los Angeles at the height of hippy Hollywood.

But today's release of the full trailer gives us a whole lot more to chew on.

In addition to Pitt and DiCarpio, the film also stars Margot Robbie as the late Sharon Tate, who was murdered, in real life, by the infamous Charles Manson gang, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Damian Lewis, Emile Hirsch, Kurt Russell, Buce Dern and the late great Luke Perry.

Word has it that the Manson murders take a more prominent place in the story than originally thought. In fact film critic Peter Bradshaw says of the film "Quentin Tarantino’s brilliant exploitation black-comedy Once Upon A Time In Hollywood finds a pulp-fictionally redemptive take on the Manson nightmare: shocking, gripping, dazzlingly shot in the celluloid-primary colours of sky blue and sunset gold."

Tarantino says of his film: "I've been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I'm very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don't exist anymore. And I couldn't be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio and Pitt as Rick and Cliff."

The film is rater R and is set to open this summer on July 26.
