“Your mother was the cleverest inventor I ever knew. And there was never any doubt when I asked what her greatest creation was. You."

Synopsis: All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. A golden thread, presented at godfather Drosselmeyer's (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange, mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms - Movie Trailer

We got our first look at Disney's next holiday film last December when they gave us a short teaser for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, a live-action take on the classic nutcracker story. Today, Disney followed up that trailer with the first official full-length trailer for the film and a colorful, brand-spanking new poster.{googleads}

The film is directed by Lasse Holstrom who works from a script by Ashleigh Powell, Simon Beaufoy, and Tom McCarthy. it will hit theaters just in time for the Christmas holiday season on November 2nd.

It is not a good sign that large portions of the film were sent back for reshoots under a new directorial team headed by Joe Johnston who spent an additional month doing reshoots. I must say that there's a whole lot going on in this thing with a rich beautiful look and feel. Hope the heavy use of CGI doesn't sink it. From what we get in the trailer, it looks like it is some kind of weird mash-up of Beauty and the Beast and The Chronicles of Narnia with a bit of Alice in Wonderland thrown in for good measure.
