How strong is your stomach? That’s the question you need to ask yourself before starting on this twisted tale of body horror. Incision has arrived!
Obsession seems at the heart of plastic surgery. Either we are obsessed with making ourselves look better or obsessed with a flaw that can be fixed. Everyone deserves to look their best, right? Sometimes the root of our obsessions come from healthy places . . . but, most of the time, they do not.
And that’s where a horror movie like Incision comes into play: the emotions; the scalpels; the morphine; the lidocaine; all of it mixing together to create a vision of terror unique to this Halloween season . . . especially if you like body disfigurement horror slicing away at every part of you.
Incision, directed by Az and written by Chris Kato, opens with a horrifying BANG as one insane doctor shows one of his patients - I mean, victims - her new face. It is badly scarred and stitched up, sealing her mouth together and her eyes, yet the screaming won’t subside. Thanks to all the swelling, she now looks like a pig.
But, that’s just it: the doctor’s trying out new techniques and, ahem, they are all cutting edge and Dr. Cunningham (James Allen Brewer), the deranged surgeon at the center of this flick, likes to show off his work.
Beauty Blogger Alexa Landry (Korrina Rico, Ray Donovan) only had one fear, plastic surgery. She ultimately had to face this fear when she was kidnapped with her friends by a deranged plastic surgeon who is obsessed with beautifying his victims.
Co-starring Korrina Rico (L.A. Slasher; Glass Jaw; After Dark), Lee Kholafai (Angels Fallen; Glass Jaw; Waiting for Dracula), Costas Mandylor (Bloodthirst; Death Count; Daddy’s Girl; Saw franchise) and Caylee Cowan (Easter Egg; Wally’s Wonderland), Incision is what happens when a group of not-quite-ready to grow-up adults find themselves on the wrong side of Cunningham’s blade.
From creepy dolls to even creepier basements, this horror film - in an effort to get everyone’s preferred method of horror screwed on just right - throws a whole lot of horror hullabaloo at the wall to see what sticks. Ultimately, Incision is at its very best when it keeps its horror “cutting” edge with just a victim, some fiends for the heavy lifting, and a plastic surgeon who has long been without his sanity.
With just a snip there and a tuck there, Incision will be available on Amazon October 27 and iTunes/Google Play/Vudu November 12, 2020. Get ready to feel your skin crawl . . . off. Just don’t get any blood on the mad doctor’s shoes.
