The Flood (2023)

Man eating reptiles, a flood, AND a hurricane?!  Good luck surviving this one!

The sirens blaring at the start of The Flood is your first warning.  Southwestern Lousianna is not where you want to be!.  There’s a hurricane on its way and memories of Katrina are running rampant among the citizens trapped by this new one.  Hurricane Gustavo is on its way!  What could be worse?

"chaos reigns supreme in this fun-loving action flick which delivers kill after kill in a solid fashion"

How about a hurricane that is loaded with giant, hungry alligators?  Welcome to The Flood and, if you like genre movies the way I do, you are going to love this one!  Everything works here to create an exciting romp through the flooded rice and sugarcane fields of Louisiana!

This is what happens when a horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana!  Starring Casper Van Dien, Nicky Whelan, and Louis Mandylor, this film is loaded with tense moments and a strong B-grade vibe thanks to its introduction of the prisoners and their relationship with the sheriff at Lutree, which is where they eventually land in this storm.

Think slasher by way of alligator and you get the rationale behind The Flood.  Opening with a fun scene in which two people fleeing from the oncoming hurricane find themselves in close quarters with a giant, pissed-off alligator, this thriller quickly gets audiences to the in-transit prisoners courtesy of a bus scene and title cards.  Suddenly, we are right there with them; debating on whether or not to wait out the storm.

The final plan is to crash at the Lutree sheriff’s station.  Surely, that will work.  It's just until the storm passes, you know?  But those plans are interrupted by a group of criminals who want one of the five criminals on board the bus.  Their target is Russell Cody (Van Dien) and freeing this cop-killer is their intention.  Of course, they didn’t plan on the storm or the alligators within.

Could anything else go wrong?  It turns out, yes! The Flood (2023)

From flooding in the jail to giant alligators on the rampage, The Flood is one disaster away from an award as chaos reigns supreme in this fun-loving action flick which delivers kill after kill in a solid fashion.  The kill sequences - while predictable (and that’s by design) - remain engaging and have just the right amount of humor to play off the tension as the ridiculousness of the situation these people find themselves in gets absolutely gutted by the alligators at play below the murky depths of the flood water.

Directed by Brandon Slagle and co-written by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway, The Flood is fun, fast, and completely off its rocker as alligators sneak up on the unsuspecting victims of this flood and chomp, chomp, chomp their way to victory.  The meatier they are, the better!  The ‘gators are HUNGRY

Complete with cool bullet effects and solid scenes of action, The Flood defies your expectations and rises above the current list of independent offerings thanks to its cast, the crew behind the scenes, and fun story which never takes itself too seriously.

The Flood arrives in theaters and On Demand from Saban Films and October Coast on July 14th.
