Echoes of Fear

We’ve all felt it. That feeling that crawls up the back of your neck and roosts in your heart, beating it solidly against your rib cage. You are alone in a house and yet you can’t shake the feeling that screams at you that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I have felt it more than enough times in my life and, for the poor girl at the center of this tale of haunted nights and days, there is no escape: something is watching her ALWAYS.

"doesn’t placate its audience; it delivers a solid feeling of oppressive terror"

Some houses aren’t worth the soil they are built upon. Sometimes they are only money pits, gobbling up every bit of resource known to get them into a sellable state. Other times, they provide the best of places for memories to occur. And then, when atrocities occur within their walls, there are houses that become Echoes of Fear. Such is the case for the inherited house at the center of directors Brian and Laurence Avenet-Bradley’s acclaimed excursion into fear.

Starring Trista Robinson, Hannah Race, Paul Chirico and Marshal Hilton, Echoes of Fear is a solid tale of haunted madness. The effective jump scares are plotted out in such a way that they pull off their intentions and then some. You honestly don’t see a lot of the spooks and shrieks coming, which is damn good thing in this day and age of horror films . . . where everything that goes bump in the night is as expected as the rising sun. {googleads}

Thankfully, this dense and dark film gets it right. Echoes of Fear explores the possibilities of fear with its shocking beginning in which an old man dies rather unexpectedly. The scene is both engaging and frightening, setting us up for a mystery that we are not prepared for. Alysa’s grandfather has passes away and his death leaves her with his house to get ready to sell. But packing up his items is not a smooth affair; there is someone or something in the house with her and it doesn’t want her there. At all.

Hell, even her mouse is affected by whatever is in the house with her. When her boyfriend doubts her tale, it is up to her and her girlfriend, Steph, to get to the bottom of the mystery that took the life of her grandfather. But the truth that it contains will shock everyone and it does not care who it lays waste to either. That’s what happens when Echoes of Fear are churned up.Echoes of Fear

The movie received its World Premiere at the 18th annual Shriekfest Horror Festival, the longest running horror festival in Los Angeles, where it won Best Supernatural Horror Feature. The film has been entered in 14 other festivals and has since won six Best Feature Awards. And for good reason, Echoes of Fear doesn’t placate its audience; it delivers a solid feeling of oppressive terror as one house full of shadows and death returns to the living in order to finally be at peace.

Echoes of Fear embarks on a national theatrical release beginning this week in Los Angeles and then goes on to other cities in the United States during its month-long run. Catch it in a major city near you, but do NOT go see this spellbinding tale of the supernatural without a friend.

Consider yourself warned.
