The Nun

The Nun took on IT this weekend in a crazy little roundabout way by becoming the second highest September draw of all time behind Andy Muschietti's Stephen King adaptation with a $53 million haul at the box office. IT ruled the September Box Office back in 2017.

American audiences weren't the only ones having their pants scared off however, as the film topped $130 million internationally. The James Wan-directed demonic horror flick is the third chapter in the Conjuring universe and cost just $22 million to make.

The romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians finally gave up its hold on the top spot but only fell one place to number two with $13.6 million bringing the film's total to 136 million while Jennifer Garner's revenge-actioner Peppermint took the third slot thanks to a $13 million take as well as Garner's intense workout routine that helped her film overcome a tomato-meter rating of only 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.
