Synopsis: Ivan is a 400-pound silverback gorilla who shares a communal habitat in a suburban shopping mall with Stella the elephant, Bob the dog, and various other animals. He has few memories of the jungle where he was captured, but when a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, it touches something deep within him. Ruby is recently separated from her family in the wild, which causes him to question his life, where he comes from and where he ultimately wants to be.

Originally scheduled for a theatrical release this summer, Disney's newestfaliy-friendly film, The One and Only Ivan, will now hit the company's exclusive streaming service Disney + with a late August release. But you don't have wait until then to get a look at some of the film's footage which features a combination of live action and CGI. Check out the trailer for the film below.

The story, adapted from the 2012 children's novel by K.A. Applegate, is written for the screen by prolific screenwriter Mike White who has brought us such beloved classics as School of Rock, Orange County, and the TV series Freaks and Geeks. It is centered on the life of a silverback gorilla named Ivan who, along with an elephant and a dog lives in a communal habitat in a shopping mall. Together the mates dream of one day getting out of their enclosure and living free in the wilderness. Thea Sharrock (Me Before You) directs.

The One and Only Ivan features Bryan Cranston as Ivan's human raiser, Sam Rockwell as the voice of Ivan, Angelina Jolie as the voice of Stella the elephant, Danny DeVito as the voice of Bob the dog. Others in the cast include Helen Mirren, Brooklyn Prince, and Phillipa Too.
