New Contenders Fail to Knock Shyamalan's GLASS From Top of Weekend Box Office

The top three films from last week's box office results remain the same with M. Night Shyamalan's superhero sequel, Glass pulling in a nice $19 million to remain on top. The film has raked in $73 million in its two week run.

The Bryan Cranston / Kevin Hart comedy The Upside remains in second place with a $12.2 million take while the DC superhero powerhouse Aquaman puts up a strong fight to remain in third by adding another $7.3 million to its $316 million total.

The Joe Cornish fantasy film The Kid Who Would Be King debuted in a disappointing fourth place with $7.2 million while the Marvel superhero actioner Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse holds steady in the fifth slot with a $6.1 million take which brings its seven week total to nearly $170 million. {googleads}

Getting a significant lift from last week's Oscar nominations announcement, the comedy-drama Green Book jumped eight spots to finish in sixth spot by adding another $5.4 million. That was enough to push last week's sixth place finisher, A Dog's Way Home to the seventh spot with a take of $5.2 million.

Another new film this week to perform below expectations was Mathew McConoughey's thriller Serenity which finished in eighth place with $4.8 million in over 2,400 theaters. That one has to hurt!

Rounding out the top ten box office this week is the little mystery/thrill Escape Room which added $4.8 million to its four week total while last week's fourth place finisher, Dragon Ball Super: Broly dropped to number ten with a disappointing $3.6 million total for the weekend.
