Love, Simon - Movie Trailer

20th Century Fox just released the first trailer for Love, Simon which is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Becky Albertalli.

It tells the story of seventeen-year-old high school student Simon Spier (Nick Robinson), who is struggling with how to tell his family and friends that he is gay. He's also recently fallen for a fellow classmate, but since they met online, he doesn't know his crush's true identity.

There are a lot of emotions going on in the trailer as we get, via voiceover, a first-person look inside Simon's head. He struggles with how and when to come out to the world. Especially poignant is a touching moment where he points out that it's a bit unfair that only homosexuals have to announce their sexuality. In fact, the trailer ends with a wonderfully ironic montage of characters telling family and friends that they are straight.

This movie is certain to strike a personal chord with many as its themes are universal to anyone going through the same struggles as Simon. He says, "I haven't come out because maybe a part of me wants to hold onto who I've always been just a little longer." How's that for reality?
