Jurassic Island - Movie Review

Jurassic Island

“Is your Dad like a spy?”

Grandad's island has been found!  For Ava, it means something.  It also means something to her father, who has been missing for weeks.  But when she finds the whereabouts for the island, she finds herself in the role of extractionist on a rescue mission to . . . wait for it . . .  JURASSIC ISLAND!

"the attitude remains adventurous as lots of B-grade material is mined for maximum enjoyment"

Unfortunately, this island knows only of death.  She is begged to not go near it by those who know of its history, yet Ava isn’t going to just abandon her father.  Thus begins the biggest adventure of her young life!

Joined by a group of adventurers and scientists, they arrive at Jurassic Island where it becomes clear that the previous team had run into disaster. Dinosaurs and toxic leeches mean it’s no longer a search for her father, but a battle for survival.  There are plenty of surprises waiting for the search party and all of them are dangerous!

Written by Dominic Ellis and Tom Jolliffe, and directed by Ellis (Medusa), Jurassic Island stars Sarah T. Cohen, Alistair Stoneman, Jamila Martin-Wingett, Ray Whelan, Ricardo Freitas, Nicola Wright, and Tony Goodall.  With a whole lot of CGI in tow, the island comes alive with large dinosaurs, bad attitudes, and slimy leeches carrying a twisted disease.  Sure, sure, this is all low budget stuff, but the attitude remains adventurous as lots of B-grade material is mined for maximum enjoyment.Jurassic Island

While the pacing is a bit off in this B adventure tale, the mystery of what’s happening on the island is enough to carry it over the finish line, especially when you have to sit through all the arguing as the group fractures thanks to the deadly leeches and the fruitlessness of Ava’s calls for her father into the distance.

But is it all in vain?

They find his camp, his bag, and more!  But the mystery only deepens the further onto the island they go.  Full of dinosaurs and leeches which zombify the host, just what the hell is going on here?!

Get ready to join the search. Uncork’d Entertainment will release the Dominic Ellis-directed killer-dinosaur film Jurassic Island on DVD and Digital on April 5th!
