HBO just announced a premier date and dropped a new teaser trailer for its upcoming comedy biopic My Dinner with Herve.

The long-gestating project began way back in 2012 when Sacha Gervasi (Hitchcock) announced that he was writing a script for the film about '70s French actor Herve Villechaize whose most notable roles were as Nick Nack in The 1974 Bond film, The Man With the Golden Gun, and Tattoo in the popular ABC television program Fantasy Island that ran from 1977 to 1984.

The movie, that is currently in post-production, will reportedly look at the unlikely relationship the star had with then up-and-coming reporter Danny Tate during one night out on the town in Los Angeles. Tate will be played by 50 Shades star Jamie Dornan. {googleads}

The story comes from an interview Gervasi conducted with Villechaize a few days before the star killed himself in his Los Angeles home. The interview was the last one the actor would give and was later viewed by Gervasi as a suicide message.

In addition to Dinklage and Dornan, My Dinner With Herve will star Andy Garcia as Herve's Fantasy Island co-star Ricardo Montalban, Harriet Walter, Fiona Baskin, and Mireille Enos as Herve's longtime girlfriend Kathy Self. The biopic will debut on HBO on October 20, 2018

Not much is revealed in the short 30-second teaser that is actually just a flickering montage of quick soundbites, but the most notable take-away is how much Dinklage doesn't look like Herve. We know from his past roles he can act, so Herve's story should be in good hands.
