Contagion

Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s (The Informant!) upcoming movie Contagion gives new meaning to telling someone, “Don’t touch me!”  The action-thriller about a deadly virus going global is redolent of a horror movie with real world issues. The film is not so much focused on how to stop the spread of the virus, but how the world reacts after it has already gone universal.

Written by Scott Burns (also, The Informant!), Contagion revolves around a group of international doctors as they race against time to suppress the air-born agent before it devastates the entire world.  The film’s enormous ensemble includes Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), Matt Damon (The Adjustment Bureau), Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road), Marion Cotillard (Midnight in Paris), Gwyneth Paltrow (Country Strong), Elliot Gould (The Encore of Tony Duran), Lawrence Fishburne (Predators), and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad).
Along with the first (and so far only) trailer, Warner Bros. recently released two TV spots.  “Don’t talk to anyone.  Don’t touch anyone.”  Contagion opens in theaters and IMAX September 9th.
