Peter Jackson Takes Questions and THE HOBBIT Titles Revealed

Peter Jackson on the HobbitWe know Peter Jackson has been quite busy of late with production of his two-part Lord of the Rings sequel, The Hobbit. The shooting schedule must be absolutely grueling, but throw in the location scouting, and prep work needed and it's difficult to imagine he'd have any time to monkey around with his Facebook fans. But that's exactly what Peter Jackson has done.

This past weekend, Jackson mentioned on his Facebook page that he got a little free time to sift through some of the 4,000 questions left by his "fans" and will answer the most popular ones over the next few weeks. The Hobbit filmmaker says he'll also answer some of the one-off quirky questions as well. OK, we know that Jackson himself isn't reading the stuff, but it's not unreasonable to believed the answers to be directly from the horse's mouth.

Question one: "Are we going to see the White Council attacking Dol Guldor?"
Jackson: I'm not going to say just what and when, but I will confirm that both the White Council and Dol Guldur will feature in the movies. And not just in one scene either. Just how to visualise it has been a challenge, but fortunately Alan Lee and John Howe went crazy with ideas, and it should look pretty cool.

In fact to celebrate the start of these 20 questions, I'll show you an exclusive photo of the White Council planning the attack on Dol Guldur! Even if you don't want to be hit with spoilers, you should still take a look. For the first image of Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel brandishing an array of fearsome Elvish weapons, CLICK HERE!

Ha! funny man!

In addition, the production companies involved, Warner, New Line, and MGM have officially announced the titles of the two Hobbit films as well as release dates for the two-film adaptation of the popular J.R.R. Tolkein novel. The first film will be called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and will be released on December 14, 2012. The second and final film will be called The Hobbit: There and Back Again, and is slated for a December 13 release of the following year.

A great example of how Facebook and social media can be used to promote a movie. Let the friends in on what's going on, and they'll be your loyal (and ticket buying) friends for life. It's amazing and quite enlightening frankly, to see how he can keep up the good humor with such a fantastically busy schedule. Truly amazing.
