Children of Sin

When religion goes WRONG!  It's central to this slow burn slasher flick.  You see, Father Abraham is concerned for your children.  We hear his broadcast all through the opening few minutes of Children of Sin and already we are alarmed by his proclamations about children and all their super sinning ways.

"a SLOW BURN of a slasher and, once you are caught in its tangled web, you aren’t going to look away until it’s over"

Children of Sin, written and directed by the super talented Christopher Wesley Moore (Triggered, Blessed Are the Children, A Stranger Among Us), is a new slasher which defies its low budget and brings a whole new level to independent horror flicks with its surefootedness and its unabashed love for the genre. From the freakishly cool RETRO poster art to all the references in the film, this flick is loaded for Horror Hounds to sink their teeth into.

Children of Sin, starring Meredith Mohler (Triggered), Cami Roebuck (A Day to Die), Jo-Ann Robinson (NCIS: New Orleans), and Faith Stanley (Black Friday) is a solid win-win for horror junkies.  We have cuties, cultists, kills, gore, and Mary Ester (Robinson) unleashed!  We also have a solid cast and a director who knows what he is doing at the helm.

If only the children knew what was in store for them, though!Children of Sin

Unfortunately, the head of the household at the center of this horror film has bought into Abraham’s broadcast bullshit hook, line, and sinker.  And, by next Sunday, this man - Robbie (Jeff Buchwald) - will be their father.  Uh-oh.  It’s time for Emma (Mohler) and Jackson (Lewis Hines) to get the hell out of there.  Trouble is bound to find them, and their mother (Keni Bounds) isn’t going to do a DAMN thing to save them from Robbie.

And that’s what exactly happens when their new stepfather discovers that Emma is pregnant and Jackson is gay.  Holy sheep, kids!  Just what have you been up to in your rooms at night?!  He’s not down with it at all.  Fearing for their lives, he sends them to Abraham House, a religious retreat for young adults to correct their EVIL WAYS. Soon, they start to suspect that Abraham House has a more sinister way of cleansing their souls than they could have ever imagined.

And they aren’t wrong.  If the BIBLE BELT got any tighter around their waists, these kids from Mississippi would be DEAD.  And, to be honest, that’s probably what these religious zealots want most of all . . . which is why they are left at the Abraham House of Horrors.  If you didn’t think we’d end up here, you aren’t alone.  To its credit, Children of Sin is a SLOW BURN of a slasher and, once you are caught in its tangled web, you aren’t going to look away until it’s over.

Christopher Moore’s creepy, atmospheric spookfest Children of the Sin premieres on Amazon Prime April 22 courtesy of FilmFreeway.  If you don't leave Abraham House a different person, you won't be leaving at all.
