"definitely worth the exposure as his grindhouse-type offerings - complete with smokin’ hot babes, badass bikers, gritty monsters, madcap musicals, and much more - are unforgettable and mad as hell"

"I would put my my films against any director in the film industry today and defy them to do a better film for the money." - Al Adamson.

Want punishment or pleasure?  I guess that depends on your take on Al Adamson's filmography because Severin Films has gone and done it again, making blu-ray history with the quickie king of kernel-sized trash filmmaking thanks to their MASSIVE release of Al Adamson: The Masterpiece Collection, the most comprehensive Blu-ray Box set ever dedicated to the works of a single filmmaker.

Al Adamson, whose violent death is just as horrific as some of his blood-soaked films, is definitely worth the exposure as his grindhouse-type offerings - complete with smokin’ hot babes, badass bikers, gritty monsters, madcap musicals, and much more - are unforgettable and mad as hell.  He is far too often overlooked when it comes to exploitation film discussions, but this set changes that for the better.  Unappreciated no more, Al Adamson: The Masterpiece Collection has it all!

This collection is not for the faint of heart.  Nor is it for the casual fan of icky, sticky schlocky filmmaking.  The 31 films in this set are all remastered to showcase the warts and the wonder of his short production schedules and even shorter paychecks handed out to his casts and his crews, which include appearances from Charles Manson's associates (as many of these films were shot at the Spahn Ranch in California) AND Colonel Sanders.Al Adamson Collection

Adamson was born into the business of making films.  He was the son of silent film stars Denver Dixon and Dolores Booth and made his appearance early in films, appearing in the 1935 film Desert Mesa, which was directed by his father.  The bug for making flicks was already there festering inside him and, with such memorable grindhouse classics like Psycho A-Go-Go, Blood of Ghastly Horror, Dracula vs. Frankenstein, Nurse Sherri, Satan’s Sadists, Naught Stewardesses, and Five Bloody Graves, with Robert Dix, John Carradine and Scott Brady

And now these cheapo depot, low-rent, drive-in spectacles of Go-Go girls, ghouls, and greasy gears can be viewed in hi-definition, thanks to the fantastic restorations done here by Severin Films, who have compiled every bit of his sleazily, ghoulish filmography and bundled it together with trailers, audio commentaries, a cool-as-fuck 126-page book, the beyond interesting 2019 documentary feature Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson which was directed by David Gregory, and so much more.

From low budget horror flicks to films about sexy flight attendants, kung fu crazies, and beyond, Al Adamson was a B-movie legend and, exhaustively compiled for the first time ever, Adamson’s collection of crazed exploitation films are marvels unto themselves.  Produced by his longtime business partner and best friend, Sam Sherman, these sick and twisted films are just as incredibly awesome as they are horrible.   Al Adamson Collection

The films included in the set are as follows: Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson, The Female Bunch, Psycho A Go-Go, Fiend with the Electronic Brain, Blood of Ghastly Horror, Halfway to Hell, Five Bloody Graves, Blood of Dracula’s Castle, Horror of the Blood Monsters, Smashing the Crime Syndicate a.k.a The Fakers, Hell’s Bloody Devils, Dracula vs. Frankenstein, Brain of Blood, Satan’s Sadists, Angel’s Wild Women, The Naughty Stewardesses, Blazing Stewardesses, Girls For Rent, Jessi’s Girls, Nurses For Sale, Black Heat, The Dynamite Brothers, Mean Mother, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Black Samurai, Death Dimension, Sunset Cove, Cinderella 2000, Nurse Sherri, Carnival Magic, and LOST.

The 14-disc set, featuring 31 bizarre films that you simply can’t give away, is now shipping from Severin Films!  It is limited in stock, so be sure to order yours soon.  Exploitation lovers and cult cinema enthusiasts are not going to want to miss out on this prizes release from the King of B-pictures.

Severin Films is proud to present the most comprehensive Blu-ray box set ever dedicated to the works of a single genre filmmaker with Al Adamson: The Masterpiece Collection, featuring 31 remastered Adamson films on 14 discs, plus trailers, audio commentaries, a 126-page book, the 2019 documentary feature Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson and more. Exhaustively compiled for the first time ever, Adamson's ouvre spans a wild beyond belief world of bloody brains, vicious cowboys, naughty nurses, decrepit actors, sexy stewardesses, mad scientists, brutal bikers, Blaxploitation mayhem, kung fu killers and "scenes so SICK the Movies could never show them before!"

The life and career of B-movie maverick Adamson – known for such low budget classics as Psycho A-Go-Go, Blood of Ghastly Horror, and Dracula vs. Frankenstein, Nurse Sherri, Satan’s Sadists, Naught Stewardesses, and Five Bloody Graves (as well as his own grisly 1995 murder) – reveals perhaps the most bizarre career in Hollywood history.

Video:

I’m not going to lie.  These films - most of them shot on 16mm - don’t look awesome.  However, the remastering of the films, some in tatters, look as good as they are ever going to.  For freaks like me, this Blu-ray set is a must-own.  Some of the transfers were originally filmed in 16mm but “blown up” to 35mm, the new 1080p transfer are shiny enough, but they do have some limitations.  Nothing too terrible, mind you.  This is easily the best the films have ever looked.  With various aspect ratios of 1.85:1 and DTS-HD Master Audio Mono soundtracks, the HD transfers are both crisp and clearer, supporting a much more stable picture than I’ve ever seen from these D-grade flick.  The skin on display is well-balanced and less sun-blasted orange than I’ve ever seen, too.  Black levels are stable.  Shadows are good, too.  Even if nothing about these sets or their photography (even if some were filmed by Easy Rider’s László Kovács and Close Encounter’s Vilmos Zsigmond) would be anything award-worthy, this entire set is definitely the release of the year.

Audio:

Nothing special.  Just DTS-HD Master Audio Mono soundtracks tracks, but one shouldn’t complain because these flicks are AWESOME.
