Weekend Box Office: CRAZY RICH ASIANS Knocks THE MEG From Top Spot

Crazy Rich Asians

This weekend we learned that The Meg's bite may not be quite as vicious as originally thought. The Jason Statham-headlined giant shark thriller was knocked from the top spot by Warner Bros.' highly anticipated romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians which raked in $25.2 million at this weekend's box office.

The Meg kept its clench on the box office however with a drop down to number two, earning $21.1 million which brings its total to over $314 million worldwide in just two weeks.

The Mark Wahlberg thriller Mile 22 failed to reach the finish line with a paltry $13.6 million take followed by another debut this week in the form of Albert Hughs's Alpha which rode positive word of mouth into the fourth spot.
