The Quake - Movie Trailer

If you happened to catch Roar Uthaug's thriller The Wave back in 2015, then you'll be glad to know that the sequel is coming this year in the form of The Quake.

The franchise is turned over to John Andreas Andersen this time around who directs from a script by screenwriters John Kåre Raake and Harald Rosenløw-Eeg that is set in present day Oslo, Norway as tremors begin showing up on the Oslo Rift which runs directly through the Norway capital.

"In 1904 an earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale shook Oslo, with an epicenter in the "Oslo Graben" which runs under the Norwegian capital. There are now signs that indicate that we can expect a major future earthquake in Oslo."

Returning to the sequel is Kristoffer Joner as geologist Kristian Eikjord who, as we see in the trailer, is beginning to grow concerned about the tremors. Shortly thereafter we see the city begin to get torn apart by a catastrophic earthquake.

The first thing we notice about the trailer is the fantastic special effects that show buildings cracking and crumbling while the earth's crust begins coughing up its insides as the earthquake increases in intensity. These effects are certainly top notch even though the film is said to focus more on characters and human interactions than on the visuals. {googleads}

The foreign language film stars Kristoffer Joner, Ane Dahl Torp, and Hang Tran and will be released in theaters, On Demand, on iTunes and on Amazon Prime Video by Magnet Releasing at the end of this year on December 14th
