Earlier this week Paramount released the first image from its upcoming Elton John biopic called Rocketman. In the image we got our first glimpse of Taron Egerton as the Rocket Man himself. He is sitting his private jet wearing a gold lame outfit with winged boots over striped athletic socks and a giant gold chain dangling from his neck.

Well, now we get a peek at the first footage from the film in the form of a minute-long teaser trailer that begins with the signature pulsing first note of Benny and the Jets before running us through the good and bad of the times and experiences that defined who Elton John is.

Rocketman is not the only musical biopic on the horizon as the highly anticipated Bohemian Rhapsody, the story of the rock band Queen's frontman Freddie Mercury, is set to hit theaters later this month. Of course these types of films have done really well at the box office and with critics alike in the past. With another musical - of sorts - in the form of A Star is Born set to hit theaters this weekend, it is no wonder that Paramount decided to strike while the iron was hot and release the Rocketman trailer.

The film, directed by Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle) stars Taron Egerton as Elton John while Bryce Dallas Howard, Richard Madden, and Steven Mackintosh co-star. Standing in as John's long-time music partner and co-writer Bernie Taupin is Jamie Bell Whom you may recognize from 2013's Snowpiercer or last year's Film Stars Don't Die in Hollywood. Of course Taron Egerton has made a name for himself as Eggsy in the Kingsman series of films. {googleads}
