Once Upon a Time in Deadwood

Marching straight into Hell itself comes the single-action six-shooter skills of Charles Bronson’s doppelgänger!  And, yeah, Bronzi takes NO prisoners.  That’s right, the savage filmmaking team of Robert Bronzi (who blew our minds in Death Kiss with his badass Bronson-like looks and steely-eyed swagger) and filmmaker Rene Perez is baaaack!

"Once Upon a Time in Deadwood is a kick ass return to the B-movie marvel of the western genre"

And, once again, this team rides out in hot pursuit of some rough justice, tossing lifeless bodies this way and that across some damn rugged trails.  This time, though, they tackle the western genre and return us to the familiar territory of Once Upon a Time in the Old West with super awesome shooting locales that, yes, include Western Leone, near Almeria, Spain and parts of California where, 50 years ago, Bronson himself stood.

Once Upon a Time in Deadwood opens with a 6-minute shootout that leaves all but a few souls still standing and, giving us very few moments to pause and collect our breaths, it continues to deliver the violent goods as Bronzi (known here as simply The Colonel), our gunslinger for hire, has merely three days with which to track down and rescue an heiress’ sister. {googleads}

Ursula (Karin Brauns) has poisoned him and, upon completion of the rescue mission, will make sure he gets the anecdote.  I’m not sure it’s a smart move.  The Colonel is pissed.  And he doesn’t hide it well, threatening at almost every turn along the way.

No anecdote.  No life for her.  With solid action beats and great timing, this film will certainly please genre fans.  Even Bronson fans will dig what Perez and Bronzi have stirred up here.

With a lot of whistles and acoustic/electric guitars in its soundtrack and quite a number of great shots of steam trains, Once Upon a Time in Deadwood is a kick ass return to the B-movie marvel of the western genre.  The locations are exciting and so too are the shootouts (in the SNOW!), making this throwback a fun Saturday Night Special.  The flick, released from Uncork’d Entertainment, makes no apologies for its violence, nor does it shrug off its simplicity.  This is a straight up western romp as one man goes on a shooting spree to save the damsel in distress.Once Upon a Time in Deadwood

Also starring Streets of Fire’s Michael Paré as the main bad guy, Lauren Compton, Chris Matteis, J.D. Angstadt, Jose Varela Garcia, Justin Hawkins, Tony Jackson, and Sierra Sherbundy, Once Upon a Time in Deadwood has the same incredible energy of Death Kiss.  This time, though, we trade the city streets for snowy mountains and ride alongside the one of the straightest shooters out there.

Bang! Bang!  You're dead.  Once Upon a Time in Deadwood comes out in the U.S. on October 1st on digital and on November 19th on DVD.  Uncork’d Entertainment is handling distribution in North America and international sales.
