Our Most Wanted on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD This Week - December 4, 2018

The Happytime Murders

A very solid offering on the blu-ray and 4K front this week of December 4rd, 2018 as no fewer than six new titles are debuting with a hi-def blu-ray and/or 4K treatment while several catalog titles are also making quite a splash on blu-ray. And one title will be crowned our Most Wanted this week.

Debuting on home video this week is the second season of the sci-fi television series Westworld which is coming to us courtesy of Warner Bros. in a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Copy release as well as in a Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Copy and a Target Exclusive with bonus disc blu-ray + Digital Copy.

Next up is Corin Hardy's supernatural thriller The Nun which comes to us from Warner Bros. on both a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital HD release and Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD + UltraViolet.

Universal Studios gets into the hi-def discussion with a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD release of the raunchy puppet comedy The Happytime Murders which will include a feature commentary, deleted scenes, gag reel and a handful of other featurettes. The studio is also releasing its historical drama Operation Finale with a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD release that includes an audio commentary with director Chris Weitz, and another featurette.

The second season of the emmy-winning dystopian future television series The Handmaid's Tale is getting some hi-def love with a blu-ray release by Fox/MGM, while Disney is hoping to capitalize on the momentum created by its forthcoming The Lion King remake by putting out another 4k Ultra HD version of its 1994 animated classic The Lion King.

Let's now get into some of the catalog titles hitting hi-def home video this week with a 4K remaster of the classic comedy National Lampoon's Class Reunion which will also features a new commentary and new interview in addition to a couple of trailers from Kino Lorber.

The Nun

Donald Sutherland's 1994 sci-fi thriller The Puppet Masters is getting a Special Edition blu-ray release from Kino Lorber that will include a commentary, documentary, featurettes and trailers. The company is also releasing a new 4K restoration of the classic 1982 nuclear warfare documentary called The Atomic Cafe which will include some interviews, snippets, audio excerpts, and a trailer.

Ingmar Bergman's classic 1977 American-West German drama The Serpent's Egg will come out with a Special Edition blu-ray from Arrow with a commentary by actor David Carradine, a talking head feature, image gallery, and a trailer. The BBC is releasing an 8-disc blu-ray edition of Doctor Who: Peter Davison Complete Season One with a new "making-of" documentary, a handful of features, stories, and much more.

And finally, Paramount Pictures makes a huge splash with what is our Most Wanted blu-ray/HD of the week in the form of the blockbuster latest chapter from the Mission: Impossible series Mission: Impossible - Fallout. The film is getting several editions including a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Copy edition, a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy edition as well as a Best Buy Exclusive 4K Ultra HD Steelbook and a Best Buy Exclusive Blu-ray Steelbook Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy. The release features a Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos versions of the film, tons of featurettes, deleted scenes, storyboards, and isolated score track, and three audio commentary tracks.
