Killer Crocodile

It’s Crocsploitation Cinema at its feistiest!

The cheese! The chomp! The charm! What is this movie JAWS that you speak of?! And this Steven Spielberg, too? Apparently, the Italians have never heard of him or his pet shark. When it comes to fierce predators of the deep and the dark depths, Killer Crocodile has the toothy grin that you and your friends have been dying for.

"is a B-movie barnburner of a flick. If the hokey dialogue doesn’t slay you, then the flimsy teeth in this monstrous puppet will."

Just when you thought it was safe to head back into the water, Killer Crocodile (and its rushed sequel) finally make their appearance on blu-ray thanks to the vault mining by the Horror Hounds over at Severin Films and the results are as GRATE as Italian B-movie shredded cheese can be.

The waters are murky and full of spilled chemicals. Nothing pisses off and mutates the wildlife more than that irresponsibility. And, hiding in the damp waters, is a rubber-suited terror that has tripled in size. And it IS hungry for humans! Nom nom nom!  Twice the croc fun in the sun, especially when the Caribbean swamps become ideal locations for Holiday Resorts in the second flick.  Another giant crocodile?!  Woot woot!{googleads}

Directed by Fabrizio De Angelis and starring Richard Anthony Crenna (son of actor Richard Crenna), Killer Crocodile (and its sloppy sequel, Killer Crocodile 2) is a B-movie barnburner of a flick. If the hokey dialogue doesn’t slay you, then the flimsy teeth in this monstrous puppet will. You’ll be howling with laughter as fools fall left and right into the rivers and get absolutely spit open and spit out by the ever-changing in size (I mean, how big is this beast?) floppy crocodile that chomps, chomps, chomps its way through the river as it floats on top and is somehow hard to steer.Killer Crocodile | Killer Crocodile II

That’s right, B-movie Marveleers, there’s a gigantic KILLER in the swamps of Central America and it is up to one loony bird team of environmentalists – featuring insipid performances from Sherrie Rose (Demon Knight), Ennio Girolami (Great White) and Hollywood legend Van Johnson (The Caine Mutiny) to kill it. Of course, exactly how this 20-foot-long crocodile was birthed there in the dark waters is also of their concern, but when it goes around randomly chomping their friends, the concern is not so much on preserving nature, but in blowing its big ass up . . . or at least slicing and dicing it to pieces.

Okay, okay, so these two movies are pretty awful. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t any joy in watching how these idiots deal with this massive muppet, though. The dialogue is also a bit of a joke, too, because there is a lot of talking and mansplaining as this team of professionals get totally outsmarted by half of a crocodile.

Killer Crocodile and its sequel are now available on blu-ray thanks to a sparkling new transfer in 2K!

Video:

Newly scanned & restored in 2k from its 35mm original camera negative, Killer Crocodile (and its sequel) looks as fleshy as its going to ever get. Lots of love went into the restoration and it shows. The region free Blu-ray/DVD combo looks incredible. Black levels are consistent and so, too, are the colors. The new 1080p transfer is crisp with defined edges. Colors are vivid and fine details are noticeable. Skin tones are warm. Occasionally, the red tones overcompensate in some areas, but a sharp-looking release nonetheless.

The faithful English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track is an incredible accompaniment to the feature.
