Joker - New Movie Trailer
“Arthur, does it help to have someone to talk to?"
Synopsis: “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Release Date: October 4, 2019
Director: Todd Phillips
Writer: Todd Phillips and Scott Silver
Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz
Yesterday it was the first poster, today Warner Bros. gives us the first trailer where we get a horrifying look at Joaquin Phoenix's take on the Clown Prince of Crime in Joker.
The film is directed by The Hangover's Todd Phillips (who also co-writes with Scott Silver) and, in addition to Phoenix, the film stars Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, and Marc Maron.
It is set in 1981 where Phoenix is Arthur Fleck, a struggling stand up comedian whose attempts to become famous lead him to the criminal underworld of Gotham City. We also see De Niro briefly as a talk show host who plays a part in Fleck's unraveling. And boy, does he unravel. We also see Zazie Beetz as Fleck's love interest.
Only a madman would take on the infamous Batman villain after Heath Ledger's game-changing portrayal in The Dark Knight, but if there is anyone with the chops – and guts, it would be Phoenix. But only time will tell if the actor's full interpretation is as deliciously wild and weird as what we get from the trailers.{googleads}
