The Batman

The mega 24-hour immersive virtual fan experience called DC Fandome happened over the weekend bringing the universe of DC to life with stars, filmmakers, and creators. But the biggest spectacle to come out of the event was The Batman writer-director Matt Reeves' debut of the first trailer for his film The Batman, which you can watch below.

Needless to say, both fans and detractors have been buzzing all weekend as the moody trailer puts the spotlight on the presence of The Riddler (Paul Dano) who is apparently leaving a trail of deadly clues for the Dark Knight and commissioner Gordon (Jeffrey Wright).

We know that Batman will face off against a trio of classic villains which, in addition to The Riddler, will include Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Collin Farrell as The Penguin. In the trailer, which plays over a moody, atmospheric version of Nirvana's Something in the Way, we get a couple of pretty good looks at Robert Pattinson in full Batman get-up.

The Batman also stars, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson, John Turturro as mob boss Carmine Falcone, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.

Warner has yet to release an official synopsis or poster for The Batman. If all goes as planned, The Batman will hit theaters on October 1, 2021
