Netflix didn't come away from this year's Cannes Film Festival empty handed. In fact, the company walked out with a new film after it shelled out $30 million for the worldwide distribution rights to a little animated robot film called Next Gen... and you can watch the trailer for it below. 

The film is about a rebellious young girl named Mai who befriends an uber-intelligent robot named Gen 6 (John Krasinksi) and the pair team up to save the world from the destructive intentions of a maniacal madman hellbent on destroying the world. Adding their talents to the film are Constance Wu, Jason Sudaikis, David Cross, and Michael Peña.

The film was made by filmmakers Kevin Adams & Joe Ksander with the backing of the Canadian studio Tangent Animation and is based on a graphic novel. Netflixhas announced that they will make it available to subscribers on September 7th.
