Coco - First teaser trailer

Of late, Pixar’s primary focus has been on creating sequels to films from their stable of tried-and-true stalwart properties. But somewhere between last summer's mammoth succes of Finding Dory and Toy Story 4’s impending release, the studio has found time to bring us an original project that looks absolutely wonderful.

Though not much about the film has been revealed to this point, it seems that Coco's story will revolve around the forbidden musical ambitions of a young boy named Miguel Rivera (voiced by Anthony Gonzalez) who is forced to hide his passion for music and playing the guitar because his family believes they have been cursed by it.

In this newly released teaser trailer we see Miguel teaching himself to play the guitar from watching old VHS tapes of his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt) who teaches the young boy to never underestimate the power of music and that sometimes it is best to break the rules and follow one’s heart. Those heady themes – from the pen of Adrian Molina – certainly seem to be right up Pixar’s alley and from what we see here, the film is sure to be a gorgeous feast for the senses.

Coco will serenade its way into theaters this coming holiday season on November 22, 2017.
