Despicable Me 3 - Trailer 3

Until the release of this second trailer for Illumination’s third installment in the animated Despicable Me franchise, we knew very little about the film’s actual plot. We were treated to the 80’s-inspired antics of super-villain Balthazar Bratt and loads of key-tar music and Michael Jackson moonwalking.

But in the newly released trailer, we meet Gru’s estranged brother Dru who looks to be a major character and tries to coax Gru back into the crime business. Not sure about the timing, but there are more than a few similarities to our newly elected American president.

Of course there are the fidgety minions to escort us through the proceedings and Gru’s adopted children from whom to mine the story’s heart and soul, but it’s mostly the over-the-top antics of Gru’s ostentatious brother that steal the show as he attempts to persuade Gru to help with just one more heist.

Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig is Emmy, Tony, and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker in the role of villain Balthazar Bratt.

Despicable Me 3 is not yet rated, but it will most certainly carry a PG-13 into theaters this coming June 30.
