Rough Night - Red Band trailer

Sony just dropped the first trailer for Rough Night, the raucous new comedy that stars Scarlett Johansson, Kate KcKinnon, Jillian Bell, Llana Glazer, and Zoe Kravitz as former dorm-mates who reunite years later for a bachelorette party. Naturally, chaos ensues as the ladies gather in Miami, but things take a dark turn when a male stripper dies at their party.

Rough Night looks to be a Bridesmaids knockoff or a female version of The Hangover with loads of binge drinking, cussing, sex, and raunchy physical humor. But with a first time big screen director at the helm (Lucia Aniello), it remains to be seen if the film will have the same long-lasting impact of either of those two films. It WILL be interesting, however, to see if ScarJo can hold her own in a film like this.

Regardless, with this amount of headlining star power (including the instant box office draw of Johansson), and coming on the heels of a string of female raunch comedy successes in cinemas, it is certain to find an audience in this coming summer's crowded lineup.

Of course, Aniello isn't new to directing as the she was behind the camera for a dozen or so episodes of TV's Broad City which evolved from a web series of the same name back in 2009. Also of note, Broad City star Paul W. Downs has teamed up with Aniello to write the script for Rough Night.

Rough Night is not yet rated, but if this red band trailer is any indication, it will wear an R rating with pride.

Rough Night is slated to hit theaters this summer on June 16, 2017.
