Synopsis: In Warsaw, a pair of mermaid sisters are adopted into a cabaret. While one seeks love with humans the other hungers to dine on the human population of the city.

Released a year ago in Poland, The Lure will get a coveted U.S. release later this winter on February 1. The Polish film premiered at Sundance in 2016 and has since picked up steam after its rounds on the film festival tour of 2016.

Not sure what to think about this one, but it looks to be worthy of our attention if not for its creativity alone, then certainly for the sheer wackiness that makes us say, “haven’t seen that before.” Looks and feels like some kind of crazy mash-up between Splash, Let the Right One In, and an ABBA music video… with a little bit of Bollywood thrown in for good measure.
