20th Century Fox gave everyone the best Christmas present ever when it stuffed our stockings on Christmas day with the first trailer for Alien: Covenant, the highly anticipated follow-up to the science-fiction thriller Prometheus which was also directed by sci-fi maestro Ridley Scott.

Of course, Scott soft rebooted the Alien franchise in 2012 with Prometheus and appears content to continue the blood, guts, and mayhem with the rebirth of the Xenomorphs in Alien: Covenant, which is scheduled to hit theaters next May.

While only a teaser trailer, we still get a basic idea of the plot which has the crew of the spaceship Covenant arriving at what they believe to be a distant deserted outpost only to discover that a lone android named David might not be the planet's only inhabitant.

The crew includes known cast members Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Noomi Rapace, and Michael Fassbender who are joined by Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smollett, and Amy Seimetz.
