Carrie first teaser trailerPopularized more by the Brian De Palma film that brought the name Sissy Spacek into our households than by being the first novel published by a new author on the literary scene named Stephen King, Carrie unleashed a raging fury onto high school bullies more than 35 years ago. Back before bullying was uncool.

And as Hollywood is want to do, the film is getting a remake. This time with Chloe Grace Moretz in the role of the introverted high school student whose physical and emotional abuse by her own mother is only surpassed by the bullying she receives from her schoolmates. And we get our first look at the pig-blood covered Moretz in the newly released teaser trailer by Sony where we see the deeply disturbed prom queen in what is likely the aftermath of a telekinetic-fueled rampage. There's not a whole lot to see here though as it's simply a teaser with character voice-overs telling us what a peaceful town they used to live in until the "conspiracy" that resulted in the burning streets we see with an aerial tracking shot that culminates with a blood-covered Carrie standing, arms spread wide. But stay tuned, more trailers are sure to come.

Carrie is directed by Kimberly Pierce who also plied her craft to the Oscar award winning Boys Don't Cry, The L-Word, and Stop-Loss. The film also stars Julianne Moore as Carrie's disturbed mother, Portia Doubleday, and Alex Russell. Carrie is set for a March 15th release in 2013.
