Silent Hill Revelation 3DThis coming Halloween will see the return of the long-dormant Silent Hill movie franchise when Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is set to hit theaters. The  first film in the series Silent Hill based on the groundbreaking video game franchise, debuted way back in 2006 to what was a less than warm welcome by critics even though it was generally well-accepted by the hordes of game enthusiasts who were pleased (to the tune of $100 million in box office receipts) to finally see their foggy rural American town come to life on the big screen.

Though Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is being treated as a sequel intent on standing alone in its world of horror, mystery and psychological thrills, a quick look at the trailer seems to confirm that many of its elements come directly from the game series. The legion of built-in fans will likely feel right at home with Pyramid Head (a terrible name), weird spider-like beings and demented nurses intent on performing non-hospital-sanctioned procedures.

The film is directed this time around by Michael J. Bassett and stars relative newcomer Adelaide Clemens who has been on the run with her father (Sean Bean) always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't fully understand. On the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her forever.
